Reby Sky Interviews Dave Tollefson & Zak DeOssie

Reby Sky Interviews Dave Tollefson :
(Defensive End, #71)

Reby:
This is NYGiantsGirl, Reby Sky, here with Dave Tollefson of the New York Giants. It must feel good to be a champion, right ?

Dave Tollefson:

Of course. We're trying not to think about that too much now, We were the champs last year, we're just trying to work our way and maybe, hopefully do another title this year.

Reby:
I hear a lot of terms being thrown around by the fans like "best in the league", "#1 NFC", "best defense"...Do you think comments like that hinder the defense or help you guys ?

Dave Tollefson:
I really don't think they do either. We're so grounded, especially on D and as a team that none of that stuff really bugs us. To be honest with you, I couldn't even tell you where we rank as a defense in the league or the NFC. I don't know. I just know that we go out there and try to execute the task at hand.

Reby:
You played with the European League also. What's the difference beween the European League and the NFL here ?

Dave Tollefson:
Well one, you're in Europe. It's the same, obviously the caliber of player is a little less. . .

Reby:
Don't let that get back !

Dave Tollefson:
But to be honest with you, at the time it kinda sucked because I was away from my family and my wife but it gave me game experience that I really needed and so situations that I'm put it now I'm a little more familiar with because I've been there.

Reby:
My site is more oriented towards male viewers, although we do have a lot of female fans who would love to know:
Does the off-field swagger match the on-field swagger ?

Dave Tollefson:
Of course, always. You look good, you play good - That's on the field and off the field.

Reby:
Spoken like a true champion !

Reby Sky Interviews Zak DeOssie :
(Linebacker, #51)

Reby:
This is NYGiantsGirl, Reby Sky here with Zak DeOssie, strong side linebacker, # 51 of the New York Giants. How you doin ?

Zak DeOssie:
I'm doing well, thanks, how are you ?

Reby:

I'm doing pretty well and am very honored to be sitting here with you, especially after the ass-kicking yesterday in Philadelphia against the Eagles ! After a victory like that, what do you like to do in your downtime ?

Zak DeOssie:

I like to come here and interview with you, of course !
That's why I'm here. We won not more than 24 hours ago, and here I am. I like to hang out with my teammates and have a good time, and if my family's around I get to see the. But my downtime is my downtime. We're resting, doing a lot of resting, because we're busy 17 weeks out of the year.

Reby:
Speaking of resting, I guess that's what you'd call the "Victory Monday". I just heard about that recently and not a lot of people know what that is, do you want to tell us a little about that ?

Zak DeOssie:
Well, later in the season once we start winning and we're on a roll, coach gives us 'Victory Monday" off; No meetings or corrections, so we just gotta get in there and lift and run and watch films on our own. It takes the pressure off of us, we have no schedule. We just get in, get the work done, get out and enjoy time with our families.

Reby:
Well good thing you're 8-1, you're getting a lot of Victory Mondays ! Another thing a lot of people might not know but that you're probably sick of talking about is that you've had Giants in your blood long before you were drafted. Your father, Steve DeOssie, New York Giants great. . .What is your silliest football related memory with your father ?

Zak DeOssie:

When he was with the Patriots - I know - I'm sorry.

Reby:
::gets up::
It's over

Zak DeOssie:
Easy, easy. . .
I used to drive his golf cart around, driving around the campus. Campus security stopped me, I got yelled at, scolded. My old man was kinda disappointed but I think that we laugh about it now. There are so many memories that go back, a lot of them are at the Meadowlands. As a matter of fact, I watched many games there, and am just honored to be playing here with the same organization that he played with.

Reby:
It was a really long road to Super Bowl victory and there were a lot of intense moments. . .And I was just watching !
What was your favorite moment in the Playoffs ? You played all 20 games last season, right ?

Zak DeOssie:

I did, I played every game, did all the long snapping and special teams...The best moment for me, personally, in the playoffs was when the Patriots were 3rd and long, backed up, right at the end of the game, and my old man somehow snuck out onto the field. I don't know how he got on there. And I hear, "Hey Zak" ! I turn around and I'm like, "That sounds like my old man". . .and he goes, "Zak, I think you guys are gonna win!" So I started laughing / crying at the same time, it was great.

Reby:

That's the cutest thing ever !
This last question - and thank you so much for your time again - this one's for me: Boxers or briefs ?

Zak DeOssie:
Briefs

Reby:
Right now ?

Zak DeOssie:
Support, yes.

Reby:
Awesome.
Well there you have it, the questions that matter!
